October 2, 2008
From the team at Trimble, I'd like to extend our thanks to viewers of the blog and attendees of the show. We very much appreciate the chance to learn more about your discoveries and opportunities. And we look forward to meeting you again at Trimble Dimensions.

Inigo Bonilla: perspective on Intergeo
October 2, 2008
I was glad to get a couple of minutes with Inigo Bonilla, sales manager across Europe. He was on the go, as usual, but he was able to share his perspective on the show and changing face of the market:
What stands out as particularly unique about the show this year?
"It's a really great show again this year. I was particularly excited to see the synergies between Trimble and strategic partners like HHK and Breining. It shows that Trimble is making some important things happen in the industry. And this is a good thing for customers."
How has the show changed over the years?
"Intergeo is becoming a very international conference. Of course we all realize the size and scope of the show, but in years past it has not had the global attendance as it does today. I've spoken to people from Asia, Latin America and of course all across Europe."
What's new in Spatial Imaging?
October 2, 2008
As segment manager Trimble David Hadden is in a good position to provide an overview of the latest in Spatial Imaging:
"We're seeing a growing interest in Spatial Imaging this year. We are having a great deal of success with both the instruments and Trimble RealWorks Survey. The software is smarter than ever, including some powerful time-saving features for Ortho Photos.
"The Trimble VX is now available in a model that does not include 3D scanning. Why is this important? There are a lot of folks out there that just want to integrate photography with surveying data. The other strong argument is Trimble VISION. When you have images right on the controller, all you need to do to point the Trimble VX is tap the touchscreen. It's a huge timesaver... and it's pretty cool, too.

Stand Party
October 2, 2008
Each year, Trimble hosts INTERGEO attendees for a night of fun and live music. It’s usually the highlight of the entire show and this year was no exception. The Beat Brothers Band had the crowd on their feet and calling for more. As it turned out, the hardest part of the night proved to be getting the crowd to go home!

Monitoring with the Trimble S8
October 1, 2008
I met with Julian Grey of GNA Geomatics to learn more about his work in monitoring the construction of Greenpoint Stadium in South Africa. The stadium and the 2010 FIFA World Cup games are a great sources of national pride in South Africa.

Q&A with Bob Hanks
October 1, 2008
Overall, what are your impressions of the show?
Despite economic challenges in worldwide markets, INTERGEO attendance is still quite high and the prevailing attitude seems to be very optimisic. Our stand has been filled for two days straight.
Your team has been very successful, what’s the secret?
It’s a real pleasure to work with the European sales team and our extended team of distribution partners. Their level professionalism and domain knowledge--their insights into market needs--is really outstanding.
What do you think of the Trimble stand?
First impression is excellent. Better than ever. As folks walk around the show, I think the Trimble brand makes a really strong impression.

Growing interest at Intergeo for Geospatial
October 1, 2008
I just stopped by the GeoSpatial area of the Trimble booth. With the acquisitions of Geo-3D, Inpho, and soon RolleiMetric and Toposys, I asked Ken Spratlin to give us a short overview of this division. "The combination of RolleiMetric's arial industrial camera and Toposys' corridor mapping LIDAR provide high resolution and high accuracy aerial data for engineering scale projects. The Inpho Photogrammetry Suite then allows rapid and accurate extraction of otrhophotos and digital surface and terrain models. These models provide information to increase productivity in the design, construction and maintenance phases of infrastructure. Geo-3D provides a complementary collection capability for highways and their right-of-way."

The Senator’s visit
October 1, 2008
Senator Ralf Nagel, Senator for economy and harbours, visits with Jürgen Kliem to gain a fuller understanding of the surveying industry. With an increasing appreciation for the work of surveyors and its impact on the greater economy, visibility of Trimble and its partners at INTERGEO is on the rise.

Planning your trip to Las Vegas
Oct 1, 2008
Day 2: Joerg Amend is presenting an overview of Trimble Dimensions. Like last year, the conference will be held in Las Vegas on Feb. 23-25 2009. Don't forget to register on our Intergeo website as you also could win a trip to be there with us. Click here for a chance to win a trip to Trimble Dimensions 2009.

Saving some time for fun
Sept 30, 2008
W. (Wessel) Sterenberg of Azimuth Geodetic reports that Trimble is their main line of both GNSS and Optical instruments. Based on this photo, he also thinks the Trimble swim noodles are pretty cool too.

Monitoring News
Sept 30, 2008
Julian Grey (R), Geomatics Engineer of GNA Geomatics discusses some of the new monitoring options available with Roger Hoglund. Between the new, Real-Time performance of Trimble 4D Control software and the Long Range FineLock technology option in the Trimble S8, there is a lot to know about Trimble monitoring solutions.
Check back on Thursday, we hope to have a brief interview with Mr. Grey after he’s had a chance to learn more about Trimble’s new monitoring-specific options.

View from Mark Harrington
Sept 30, 2008
I was lucky to find Mark Harrington, Vice-President, with a moment to reflect on what he has seen so far from around the show. “Clearly, the competition has been paying attention to what we’ve been doing lately. It’s not surprising. The innovations coming from our team continue to steer the direction of the industry.
“This year, Trimble’s focus is really about adaptability: We’ve announced several general-surveying solutions that can be easily adjusted to address specialized applications. This provides surveyors with a means to address new market opportunities without incurring the investment of a specialized solution that might sit on the shelf after the first job is complete.” The dynamics of the market are changing and Trimble is leading the industry response for increased agility for surveying organizations. "We're commited to continued innovation."

The news is out - read the press release about our new solutions
Sept 30, 2008
Read about all the new solutions we are introducing at Intergeo this year. I will go to the different application pods and try to describe them for you in more details. In the meantime, you can access the press release here.
See the booth - in (almost) 3 dimensions!
Sept 30, 2008
I had the opportunity to be on the exhibition floor before the crowds arrived on the Trimble booth. I took tons of pictures and uploaded them for you to see on the new Microsoft picture browser: Photosynth. Check it out here! It's pretty cool to navigate in the photos.

The Bremen Town Musicians
Sept 29, 2008
The town of Bremen is famous for its story of a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster, all mistreated by their masters, who leave them and meet in a desolate place. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners. Learn more at www.brementownmusicians.com
And this is me and Susanne in front of the statue depicting the story characters.

We've made it to Bremen
Sept 28, 2008
The show is just days away and the team is preparing the booth for another great year. Throughout the conference, we will be posting updates from the show, right here on this blog. Be sure to check back here often to get our first-hand updates from in and around the show.
